The bucket arm and bucket teeth of an excavator are crucial components, and their maintenance is essential for ensuring the excavator's proper operation and extending its lifespan. Here are the detailed steps and key points for maintaining the excavator's bucket arm and bucket teeth:

 

1. Maintenance of the Bucket Arm

  • Inspect the Appearance and Connection Parts:

Check the bucket arm for cracks, deformation, or signs of wear.
Ensure that the connections between the bucket arm and the excavator body are secure and that bolts and pins are not loose or damaged.

 

  • Check the Hydraulic System:

Regularly inspect the seal and oil level of the bucket arm's hydraulic cylinders, ensuring no leaks and that the oil level is within the normal range.
Check hydraulic hoses and fittings for wear or leaks, and replace any damaged parts promptly.

 

  • Keep the Bucket Arm Clean:

Regularly clean off dirt, sand, and other debris from the bucket arm to prevent corrosion and wear from accumulation.

 

  • Follow Operational Guidelines:

Adhere to the manufacturer's operating guidelines and safety instructions to avoid excessive use or improper handling that could damage the bucket arm.

 

2. Maintenance of the Bucket Teeth

  • Check Wear Levels:

Regularly inspect the wear on bucket teeth, especially at the tips and sides.

  • Choose the Right Bucket Teeth:

Select bucket teeth based on the excavator's operating environment and the hardness of the material being dug.
For soft materials like soil and sand, use flat bucket teeth, while for hard rock, RC-type bucket teeth are more suitable.

 

  • Ensure Proper Installation and Tightening:

When installing bucket teeth, ensure a tight fit with the tooth seat and use appropriate tools to secure them properly.
Regularly check the tightness of the bucket teeth and tighten them as needed to prevent loosening or damage.

 

  • Swap Bucket Teeth Positions:

Bucket teeth on the sides of the bucket generally wear out faster than those in the center. When side teeth are significantly more worn than the center teeth, swapping their positions can reduce repair frequency and extend the life of the teeth.

Before bucket teeth reach the end of their service life, perform hardfacing repairs. Hardfaced teeth have higher wear resistance, extending their lifespan by 3-4 times and costing significantly less than new teeth.

Avoid swinging the excavator arm side to side under heavy resistance to prevent breaking the teeth and seat from excessive lateral force.
